Nominations

The Flax Foundation does not accept unsolicited nominations for the Emma Goldman awards. Nominees are brought to its attention through a changing pool of invited external nominators chosen from the broadest range of relevant fields and areas of interest possible.

They are encouraged to draw on their breadth of expertise and experience to nominate people from within their field and beyond.

Their nominations are then evaluated by the board of the Flax Foundation. In making its decision, the board studies the nominees’ work and might call for evaluations from other experts. These evaluators and nominators serve anonymously, and their correspondence is kept confidential. This policy enables participants to provide their honest impressions independent of outside influence.
